Vintage Fender Allegro 5-string Banjo - with OHSC for sale in Nocona, TX
Have a look at this Fender Allegro model Banjo with original hardshell case and owner's manual. Apparently Fender didn't track these via serial number but the Allegro was made from 60's into 70's. This example was obviously played but not abused. It shows nothing but honest wear from hours of play time over the decades. The case lining has a repair. Rather than re-glue it, someone actually stitched it back into place. The resonator has a scrape that was repaired but still visible (shown). One tuner has been replaced (shown). The banjo weighs approximately 9lbs 4oz. All I did was lightly wipe the metal parts as well as rest of the instrument. There is some light pitting of the metal parts in places but overall, they still look great. After a light cleaning, I installed an Elixir banjo set. There were two bridges in the case, one is a Grover compensated style and the other is straight. I went with the straight one. The Grover compensated one is included with this sale along with the box of old thumb and finger picks (to keep the vibe complete). I didn't do any set-up aside from the cleaning and strings so it will need to be gone thru for best playability. The neck is straight and the frets have lots of life left. I'm an old guitar player that, like many of us, experimented with various string instruments over the years. I acquired this around 2010 with the intention of playing it. That phase has passed and I'm in pursuit of a new guitar amp. Therefore doing some closet cleaning. This is an old instrument that I have described as best I can. If you have any questions please message me. This instrument is being sold with a no return policy. If you're looking for a closet queen, this isn't the one. However if you're looking for a vintage 5-string banjo with tons of vibe that has been loved, send me an offer!
